Everything that humans have and do is based on interdependency and interaction. On a small scale this can be explicit. We live in communities of such a great scale that this element is hidden or forgotten. The ideology of the individual prevails. Private property, private advantage are now seen as signs of success and not as signs of social pathology.

People confuse putting family first - tribalism - or putting socially advantageous contacts first- cronyism - with co-operativism. The underlying idea of co-operation is that it is independent of family or friends. You do not have to like or even be in agreement with other humans to work with them and gain synergistic benefits for all concerned. Indeed co-operation based on family, friendship, or favours is detrimental to the very fundamental precepts of co-operation. Decisions and choices will be polluted by highly personal agendas.
